The White Horse Press LLP is run by Sarah Johnson with her parents Andrew and Alison, and James Rice. The business is incorporated in England as a limited liability partnership number OC407275 with registered office The Old Vicarage, Main Street, Winwick, Cambridgeshire PE28 5PN; VAT number 596858068.
Sarah, who read English at Oxford and whose PhD dealt with Nature, Culture and Landscape in Pacific Travel Accounts, now lives in Cambridgeshire.
Alison and Andrew met in Oxford, but have spent most of the past 40 years living on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, where they now run a croft and manage some offshore islands as nature reserves.
James worked for many years in cultural film exhibition, after reading Biology and Ancient Greek at Swarthmore and Oxford. He lives in Edinburgh.
The business takes its name from Sarah’s Eriskay pony, Erica (now sadly deceased). Eriskay ponies are a local Hebridean breed, taking their name from the Isle of Eriskay, near South Uist. |
The horse on our logo has a more classical pedigree, being derived from a 5th century B.C. marble fragment from the Acropolis in Athens (photo here by C. Carlstead) |
